I haven’t snowmobiled for years, and I don’t think I’ll take up this hobby soon, at least not during this season. It is easy to enjoy this hobby even without getting on a sled; the Hayward area is alive with activity during an active snowmobile season! The local resorts, especially those on or near the trails, are busy with riders coming in to warm up and eat, and the area merchants always welcome the boost to the local economy the snowmobile crowds bring.
I have several snowmobiling friends from the Madison area who visit the Hayward area just for the fantastic snowmobiling in this area, they claim it is a premier destination for snowmobiling.
According to Hayward Lakes Wisconsin, there are over 600 miles of groomed snowmobile trails in Sawyer County and the surrounding area. As of today, there is plenty of snow up north, and it doesn’t seem to be leaving any time soon.
